Community emerges when a group of people interacts without a formally imposed structure, and through self-organization, they develop a (network) structure that has a superior ability to process information than the sum of individuals acting independently

It would be a smart move for Twitter to remove free API tier but dramatically reduce the price of Premium. I previously suggested 95% reduction in price, and this feels about right. I wouldn't bet on it, though.

Let's assume Twitter created an app store for algos: independent developers can design curation algos and offer them for sale like they do with mobile apps. Would you use:
  • Twitter's own algo
    9.1%
  • Free independent algo
    36.4%
  • Paid independent algo
    9.1%
  • None
    45.5%

YouTube & Twitter may be the greatest force for equalizing opportunity ever. You can learn anything from YouTube. You can meet anyone on Twitter.

Google is good at surfacing relevant content, which is often low quality. I want a search engine that finds *the best* relevant content.
Phones used to come with terrible apps made by manufacturers. And then Apple created the App Store. How crazy is it that social media platforms still only allow curation algorithms made in-house?

I've been going down the rabbit hole of reputation systems. I realized that what describes as "Aggregators" are narrow reputation systems with distribution platforms attached. What would a General Reputation System look like?

one means by which one might estimate the central coherence of a group is by examiningsomething like the "insider score" of that group; that is, the extent to which members of the cluster would agree about figures commonly identified as belonging to that cluster

Reputation is information associated with an identifier that enables probabilistic estimations of the behavior of the entity represented by the identifier.

I agree, depleting the power of institutions to the benefit of individuals is perhaps what motivates me the most to work on this project

6. identified central figures of groups will end up as greater voices outside those groups, in a sense speaking as credible representatives 7. the social importance of certain legacy institutions will decline even faster as their limited reach and influence become legible

Max is a VC who's going all in on Nostr. It's a big opportunity, especially for emerging funds. Feel free to DM if you're looking to deploy capital to Nostr and need help understanding it and/or intros.

I keep thinking about the *beauty* of Nostr's design. I had been previously struck by similar beauty in Bitcoin, but it took me years to appreciate it. I "got" Nostr on first reading 's docs. I've now met two people with the same experience on both accounts.

How to improve the legal system? Competition. Today the State has a monopoly on: 1) physical violence 2) money 3) identity Remove 2 & 3, and the states will be forced to compete with each other on offering the best infrastructure, incl. the legal system.

I'm not seeing many people actively pursuing this, so I'm putting a deadline on it: 31/01/2023 If no one successfully claims the bounty by then, it's expired.

Over Christmas, I showed my family ChatGPT & DALL-E. They kept thinking I was playing a trick on them; it took a few examples for them to believe it was real. And then I showed them videos of self-driving Teslas, landing rockets, and a monkey playing pong with Neuralink...
