Crime is down significantly (used two charts to take us from 1985 through now. It is a much safer place to live now than when that picture was taken.pic.twitter.com/QtN4hDc856

1) that’s violent crime, not all crime. 2) How many arrests for violent crime? In CA they want fewer in prison, so how often did DA drop charges/allow plea to non-violent offense? Its in how you count/charge and mayors/DAs/police chiefs have incentive to report better stats.

These were the only things I could find going back that far but they mirror a national trend of crime rates dropping everywhere. There’s really no question that crime is down from the mid 80s.pic.twitter.com/wbUFARM5bU
