In my town they closed all indoor service and created a glass window ordering system, required masks in line and orders to be called in. They slide the food through a tiny window and avoid all social contact

I think Asia's experience with SARs helped them be well prepared. On the other hand,Americans remembered alot of viruses that were hyped up but never really affected the US.

I wonder whether we would have responded more quickly *without* SARS; in January, it was easy to say, "this looks like SARS; it will probably burn itself out largely in China." If you were in Asia, or had friends/family who were, the lesson might be different.
