By the way, that serology studies turned up an 80% attack rate among non-mask-wearers suggests that herd immunity probably won't occur at 50%, but may take until 80%, since, well, it got to 80%!
That masks worked as well as they did *in a contained environment with tons of unavoidable close contact* is pretty remarkable. I would have bet against masks doing much in this scenario.
It's informative, but studies like this have lots of places for unintentional bias. 1) it's a convenience sample. While it makes sense the masks help, maybe all the flight deck crew, who are outside for work, wear masks, and took test would skew.
Collinearity could be an issue. Maybe mask wearing varied strongly by gender. Temporal bias could be an issue. Also, regarding 'wash work area more'. If you work in the kitchen your exposure is very high, but you might wash more.
