Some anti-vaxxers tell me that the #HPVvaccine isn't needed because Pap tests will simply prevent most cases of cervical cancer. That's privilege speaking. They're lucky to live in a country where such tests are widely available; many poor and BIPOC women do not have good access.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide, as screening is not widely done in many countries. It's the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in sub-Saharan African women; a one time vaccine could be their only chance to prevent this lethal disease.

Didn’t hesitate today at the 2nd and last #HPVvaccine 💉 Still find it AMAZING to have worked collecting source plasma for #Gardasil when in #clinicaltrials YEARS ago. THRILLED when it was also approved for boys and have explained the importance to my son! #HPV pic.twitter.com/L6VSymnAp1

Tests don't prevent cancer: they detect it.
