Taxes are more reliable than charity, as well as more accountable. Budgeting without reliability is difficult, and credit is hard to get without reliable income. I think he would do the nation's economy more good if he paid his employees better at the bottom 2/3 of wage scale.
Well, targeted taxation will only happen if public will forces legislators to enact it. That doesn't seem likely in the near future. In the meantime, finding solutions and funding for crises such as homelessness and education may well have to come from people like Bezos.
