A question for Kingdom Hearts fans: does a recommended order to play exist other than just play them in order of release?

the only way I can think of to play them besides chronologically is - Birth By Sleep - KH1 - Chain of Memories - 358/2 Days - KH2 - Dream Drop Distance - KH3 but even then I think they're kinda meant for you to play them in release order just to keep some idea of what's going on

One thing to note about the collection is that 358/2 days and re:coded weren’t remade for them and they are just the cutscenes in the collections. So those you don’t have to actually play.

KH sounds like a pain to go through with all those games, their werid names, and their weird stories tbh :o

Release order with the slight tweak of putting Days in the finale of KHII right before fighting Roxas 8)

Only release order otherwise some reveals in the prequels lose impact

Definitely recommend release order. The story is told in such a way that chronological order doesn't really work very well because earlier games expect you to know things about the later games that were released earlier.

There's no other option but to power through them all
