I'm at chapter 45 and it feels like the author feared getting it canned because everything goes SO FAST. Literally arcs are 5-6 chapters and it has so much change and information its nuts

Overall; im liking it a lot, but I feel the world is super interesting and unused to focus on scene pieces to keep the pace going Maybe I'm too used to shoujo or shonen in which arcs go on FOREVER and sparse in content

Honestly one of my favorite aspects of chainsaw man is the pace, I love how unconventional it is in the way that it manages characters, there is no epic final showdown most of the times, people just die and most of them will not be remembered in the universe T.T

It's similar to the author's previous work Fire Punch in that it takes a totally buckwild premise but uses it to focus more on character drama and filmic moments. Fujimoto is an enormous movie buff and he's consciously emulating some of his favorites on the page.

Also yeah the whole thing will wind up being 11 volumes which is the equivalent of the end of MHA S2 in terms of page count. It covers so much ground so fast.
