They actually made IMO a top tier RPG whereas the beat em up was fine and enjoyable but nothing to write home about, so I am also hoping that this gameplay sticks around and we get more tales of Ichiban.

same! I like this new system better than beat em up. Esp when the enemies kept spamming block in older games & fights were becoming a huuuggee paaain

i was also really afraid that they'd go the typical party based rpg route where party members don't interact between one another and only talk about the objective (the most recent example of that for me was DQ11), but i'm glad i'm able to just shoot the shit whenever i want w/ em

Honestly I don't think the change to Turn based RPG is even any different, you still have button mashing you still have clutch prompts for defending etc. To me it doesn't feel ANY different than any other Yakuza game.
