I always thought it was funny when the plot is like “they’re after earths natural resources! We’re like ants to them!” Like, if I need some dirt I’m not gonna spend an extra hour killing ants because they’re puny I’ll just go get some from somewhere else

If you're talking about Ridley Scott's "Alien" movies, then I can agree with you on that. Plus his movies are what inspired Nintendo to make the Metroid video game series.

I mean if WE were capable of space travel and found a planet with aliens on it that turns out can be habited by us, we'd probably try to take it for ourselves.

It'd make sense if they were the equivalent of one of those "travel food" reality shows where someone goes around the world trying the unique foods there. Only it's aliens traveling to different planets to eat the various lifeforms there. "Yeah, this tastes like quazborgkf!"
