No no but hear me out. Actually give the game another region as dlc. And when you go to said region, you are only allowed to bring ONE pokemon. The player is let know that the pokemon in this region start just like theirs; low level.

This gives the player the option to bring a big gun to run through or bring a baby to enjoy a new region slowly. There can be a new professor and they can have starters you can get after the first badge. Then once you go through this region and become champion.
