  honestly with comics you only need to get into the stuff that interests you. I mostly ignore everything until I see some cool people working on something that seems interesting I've not read most of the hulk stuff but immortal hulk is craaaazy

  I agree, I can't really do your standard Marvel/DC stuff at all Every couple years tho I reread Scott Pilgrim. Self contained 6 issue series and just purely wonderful comics

  I love comics a lot but there isn't a starting point, I mean most newer fans wont ever read that one comic where superman pulls like 8 planets they'll probably start with one of the universe resets or something

  As someone who is much more into comic books now rather than manga recently, I absolutely agree about how intimidating and dreadful it is to get into the stories when there are so many continuities and events going around. And it is because publishers want a lot money...

  To be honest, same. It's easier for me to pick up a manga and read it because you don't generally have to worry about the above stuff. Can't recall reading many comics in my time, but I can say I enjoy reading manga quite a bit.

  Manga is almost alwayse extremely straightforward with getting a series tou see it get number one and go in order (there are western comics like that as well but its not standard ESPECIALLY MARVEL AND DC WHO ARE THE FACES OF WESTERN GRAPHIC NOVELS
