Just make Pokemon World and release subsequent expansions and hardware compatible upgrades through the generations of future consoles. It's definitely doable because we see it in MMOs. And a PokeMMO doesn't need to be more MMO than Poke.
I personally disliked Tem Tem always online DNA and the Wild Areas, the last thing I want is a MMO. Just make a proper SP game with a competent set of online modes

The struggle will always be balancing solo and multi-play. I think the games are fraught with dense, interesting mechanics that could easily make solo play attractive enough to warrant the objectively more streamlined release model of an MMO. Make "play how you want" viable
