I like Toby and his works (to an extent) but I just can't see Toby making a mother game and it translating like the others. I think theres a lot of talent in the mother community who could take the helm and have it translate amazingly. i.e. Oddity/Mother 4, Mother: Encore

This is just how I feel about the discussion of Toby making a mother game.

he got his start with an earthbound romhack and was involved with cogdis, which is one of the best mother/earthbound romhacks to date

His earthbound rom hack was... not the best imo, especially with how poorly aged it is. Just because you can make a earthbound rom hack doesn't necessarily mean you have what it takes to make a full fledged mother game.

I totally agree here. There a whole team of people who have mastered mother games, and while I think the RH was good, it just doesn’t have the same charm as Earthbound or Mother 3 for me. I also think that his humor /style isn’t fitting for the series. He’s still an amazing dev.
