I say this as someone who overall like reboot Lara, but there was definitely an absurd focus on screaming, blood, violence and killing to define her character. And it ultimately didn't do much in the way of defining either!

Yeah, and somehow almost dying in that island, killing a million dudes and watching most of her friends die horrific deaths made her want to become a globe-trotting adventurer, because that's the logical conclusion.

I hated those scenes. Gratuitous. Didn’t understand why they were necessary.

Nothing like a quick time event that implies if you don’t press this button that dudes gonna rape Lara to really get you into the hero’s journey.
