If that's true that'd explain why my account got hacked this morning. Good to keep in mind!
I'm not 100% sure about the legitimacy of this but There has been talks that theres a breach of security within the Nintendo accounts and there are reports of IPs accessing them It's reccomended for any users to change their password and make sure to have 2FA RT for awereness !

This seems like the most likely scenario. I know, because I was "hacked" almost a couple of weeks ago and I was unknowingly still using an old password with my Nintendo account. A couple of PayPal charges were made, but the credit is still on the Nintendo account.
