Alright. Inspired by this tweet, I decided to read all relevant preprints (about 30 in all). Here's what I've found, a thread. 1/15

So, uh. The PIN to log in to, and report caucus results with, the official reporting app is on the Caucus Math Worksheet. Which is... not private.

Here's why I can't support the Greens - you have to align with anti-scientific gibberish on genetics by people who haven't a clue such as Natalie Bennett.

Having a self-replicating biological 3D printer embedded in your pelvis is cyberpunk as fuck tho😎 I can actually manufacture like...six humans, indoctrinate them with some crazed belief system, wait a bit and then set them loose on my enemies. How awesome is that?

You are building a tabulation system on the critical path of human history. Do you: a) Have your decent public university CS dept build an open-source solution and ask for public review? b) Pay the lowest bidder and keep it secret from election security experts?

Scott Aaronson goes to the World Economic Forum. Well worth reading. “But still, let’s continue to base our entire business or talk or article around the presupposition that quantum computers do give exponential speedups for NP-complete problems?”

Read the horror that is Scott Aaronson's account of how quantum computing is discussed at Davos: Here is a quote from a senior vice president at IBM:

“We’re going to have solartopia and rainbows and no nuclear and no coal”... for the hundredth time, this is rubbish, it’s a delusion. The single biggest fastest, cheapest thing we can do for global climate protection is to restart all those reactors now.

There are very few contexts in which this is true, but in this context: Just delete the metric system, nobody uses it and there’s no reason to have a metric series.

I still have no idea why “Nike Air” shoes were supposedly dependent on sulfur hexafluoride for 14 years and you couldn’t just use air or any gas? Putting aside that it’s the most potent greenhouse gas known, it’s 7000 bucks for a G cylinder of 99.9 SF6.

Like the game last night? Did you know taxpayers shelled out $3.4 million to send President Trump to Florida this weekend so he could host a Super Bowl party for paying guests at his for-profit golf course.

the bishop of orlando is also the bishop of the moon, due to a canon law that says "any newly discovered territory would fall under the bishopric from whence the discovering expedition departed". his is therefore the largest catholic diocese, at over 14,000,000 square miles
