IUD insertion practices are insane. Humane animal laboratory research requires topical anesthetic before clamping skin with a hemostat - how did I only get ibrupeofen for 3 days of intense pain? Wild.https://twitter.com/caseyjohnston/status/1047155671131738112 …
I think circumcisions are frequently done without anesthetic, but only in babies. Because babies don’t feel pain, apparently. I remember in med school seeing the baby-shaped platform they use to strap all four limbs down.

Last I checked less than half of physicians in america use anesthetic for infant circumcision: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9606247 Not because they don't feel pain. They actually are very sensitive to pain and even with the anesthetic it's still excruciating:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/11419014_Pain_During_Mogen_or_PlastiBell_Circumcision …

Yes, I was being sarcastic when I said they don’t feel pain. If you give a baby the slightest pinch, they scream like crazy.
