a few people do that. if you do that: congratulations. don't interact. you have a brain that works in a way *mine cannot* and you're very lucky and I don't want to hear about how lucky you are

here is how people use computer software in reality, 99% of the time: - open it - is there a button that obviously does what i want? - yes. press it - close the program for 6 months if your program isn't compatible with that workflow, people are going to hate it. that's life

i have used almost every single well known commercial or free 3D package and in every one of them it was extremely easy to find the Render option. they all funneled me towards it, and hitting the button rendered exactly what i was looking at in the viewport by default

It's also usually extremely easy to find the Materials interface, which generally works on the principle that you will create a material and assign it to many objects, a sensible assumption

finding these in blender is extremely difficult. it got *marginally* easier to find Material in 2.8 (although it's still defined at an object level, which is bizarre to me) but Render still eludes me

I finally realized there is a render menu, but there's no way to get from there to an options menu. I am so close but the UI just defies me access to the most obviously useful feature, "make a picture"

The default render settings are using a camera or something instead of my viewport. Maybe I'm supposed to know about that and position a camera, but this is my exact point: this is defeating my ability to "sketch"

My entire intent here was to import a model I made elsewhere and start rapidly throwing different materials at it *to find out if I could use Blender at all* for this purpose. I'm 30 minutes in and still have not been able to find "make what i see on my screen into a final draft"

This is why people hate Blender. It defeats you when you try to figure it out. No other 3d package has ever done this to me, I was able to "play around" but Blender ABSOLUTELY DEMANDS that I go to Blender College and get a Blender Degree. 80 hours of work on abstract concepts.

I can't learn just the part of the program I want to use, which is 1% of it. I am REQUIRED to learn an entire Ecosystem, a whole new UI language and system of metaphors. This is absolute shit ROI. I would have to burn countless hours just to be able to doodle once in a while.

Someday I hope to find a DAW that doesn't have this problem
