Although the end of Hispanic Heritage Month approaches, it’s critical we continue to serve Latinx students & amplify their voices. Check out the first article I co-authored !

Passed in April 2021, the Excluded Workers Fund provided financial relief to NY residents who lost work due to the pandemic & were ineligible for unemployment insurance—largely undocumented workers. Many went without any formal assistance for over a year.

DC residents facing a mental health crisis deserve a compassionate response from trained clinicians & peers that supports them the right way in the moment and connects them to appropriate care. We got that. Call the Community Response Team anytime, 202-673-6495. #TreatmentWorks

Read our new #Data Brief "Gaps in Health Services for Immigrants in Coastal SoCal" by Luna Kohut and Stephanie Peng. It highlights the access to these #immigrant-serving #health clinics is comparatively worse in coastal #SoCal than in other regions of CA.

This is disappointing to see.
First, seeking asylum at any US border is a 100% legal method of arrival.
Second, the US spent decades contributing to regime change and destabilization in Latin America. We can’t help set someone’s house on fire and then blame them for fleeing.

“I want to be clear to folks in this region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border: Do not come. Do not come.”

More to come, but yesterday was a big day for immigration policy:
- No longer placing anyone into MPP (border expulsions still in place)
- A call for DHS & AG to strengthen DACA
- Extending DED for Liberians
- Starting a 100-day deportation moratorium today, w/exceptions

Like so many of the President's orders on immigration, yesterday's new executive order didn't change anything immediately.
BUT this one provision is hinting at some changes on H-1B visas that have been a long time coming.

2020 will be a stand out year for many reasons; among them-a historic decline in immigrant arrivals
- presidential proclamations are blocking 54,000/month
- 's reduced processing decreased visa issuance by +800,000/month
- & furloughs could add to the trend 👀⬇️

The Trump admin is flouting the law again. They've been ordered to accept new applications for #DACA and today they're saying they won't. This is simply unacceptable.

yes although int’l students pay more in tuition, this borders the narrative that immigrant bodies only deserve to be in the US because of their economic contributions to the country. instead, this issue must center the value of inclusion & global perspectives in college campuses.

Foreign students pay more tuition than US students. Today's decision seems to be motivated by xenophobia.

We must continue to look for solutions to minimize the disproportionate impacts on first-generation, low-income students. Thank you, Meredith, for allowing me and others to share our story in this article!
