I’ve been regularly frustrated with the state of open source “licensing” (really, governance, of which licensing is too big a part) for a while. Part of that frustration has stemmed from a sense of stagnation: lots of known problems, very little traction on solutions.

It is a long piece, because it was a long year :) And it could have been longer still; each of China/Asia, ethics, open-as-labor, and OSI/FSF institutional change are worth even deeper dives.
