I'm done. The free software community looks the other way while they build their empires on licenses that sustain Stallman's power.

Hey
@fsf - fire your President and Board Chair. He just sent an email to the MIT computer science community claiming that sex with an underaged girl is not rape. I know you know about him and his 'problematic' ideas already. Just letting you know that WE KNOW.23 replies 482 retweets 1,400 likesShow this thread -
And also,
@fsf, while we're at it, lemme let you in on something else: Your refusal to part ways with him - despite well-known incidents that have pushed women & others out of free software for decades - might have been ok 10 years ago. Maybe even 2 years ago. It's not ok now.6 replies 113 retweets 780 likesShow this thread -

Let's see - who's on the
@fsf board of directors? Could we count on them to do the right thing? Ok, first name on the list is Gerald J. Sussman....oh.https://twitter.com/H0tdish/status/1166445162681249792?s=20 …Sarah Mei added,

Second name on the list is Geoffrey Knauth -
@gknauth - who retweeted a hideous Bret Stephens NYT editorial about how all this 'liberalism' is eroding 'excellence' https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/02/opinion/university-campus-diveristy-inclusion-free-speech.html … Not holding my breath for either of these gents.5 replies 51 retweets 363 likesShow this thread -
I’m very interested in hearing a response from
@conservancy and@o0karen0o given the organizations close association with the fsf. Bradley M. Kuhn is on the fsf board and President of@conservancy . We give them $$$$ which is going to end now.3 replies 0 retweets 16 likes -
The statements relayed in the medium post are reprehensible. There is indeed no formal relationship between FSF and Conservancy as others have said but for my part, I'm removing my only remaining formal personal connection right now - my FSF membership. We'll be following this.

I think this is the right answer. I've removed my FSF membership based on the issues the FSF has had enforcing its Code of Conduct. And just this year, I brought up an issue where a keynote speaker violated the CoC, and have been waiting for a formal response for nearly 6 months

That's unfortunate to hear. A group of us worked hard this year to push the board to think critically about CoC enforcement around LP. Sounds like more work still needs to be done.

I know all-too-well what happens when a CoC team is not able to enforce its own policies. I'd rather not talk more about this in such a public forum, but if you'd like to contact me privately to discuss the complaint I made and the responses I've gotten, my door is open.

If you'd like my support, I'm happy to give it! But I don't want to waste your time rehashing old wounds just to have Yet Another Data Point about the shitshow.
