You could apply the same logic to Twitter generally and to this tweet particularly. To find out that "reading requires almost no cognitive effort" I have to read. So, big chances that without reading I wouldn't have found out that reading is no such big deal. No reading less info

Without the christianized germans, Western Europe would have had big chances of being a hunic province (see Battle of the Catalaunian Plains) or a part of the muslim world (see Charles Martel, Charlemagne and the descendants of Visigoths- Reconquista)

In order to cross the Danube River and fight the Dacians, Trajan had his architect build what was for 1,000 years the longest arched bridge in the world. Although it was later destroyed, remains of it can still be seen near Drobeta-Turnu Severin in Romania and Kladovo in Serbia

So nice and surprising to see a german of anglo saxon extraction being both an enthusiastic admirer of Eastern part of Roman Empire and so right about coffee, alcohol and tea. Varrus is finally avenged

Coffee empowers you to read forever. Alcohol enslaves others to your infinite charm. Tea is the watery graveyard of leaves, where fun goes to die.

That's why the biggest enemy of is not the empire but the national state. Its leveling pressure is much bigger bc a distant authority is always much superficial than a closer one. The nation state cannot exist and thrive in a multicultural society but an empire can

Markets of Constantinople. They were so big, drawing in so much wealth from across the world, that access to them was extremely valuable. So when the Byzantines refused to let Bulgarians trade in the city, it ended up causing a major war.

Seeing groups/classes in a "realistic" manner (groups identity exists per se) implies that every individual is an approximate image of the group. No or small variance btw individuals. Methodologic individualism and philosophical nominalism are necessary conditions for humanism

In other words, treating individuals as members of groups necessarily implies NO variance between individuals in that group.
