The polls had just closed, on the Left Coast...and there were already some disturbing results coming in from the Midwestern states.
But, the cameras were watching, so we kept our Game Faces on.
Scattered moments of good cheer were found, as hard-won seats went #Blue.

But, as the night grew older, the cheer was harder to come by. There was a bar, at the venue--but, believe it or not, I only had one drink. (When I first arrived, I couldn't resist the allure--it had been a LOOONG campaign!) I stood there, watching the news call the results. 3/

But then...there it was. The horrible truth. We knew Hawai'i would be
#Blue, & Alaska votes#Red...and there was not enough Electoral votes remaining, to change things. Looking back, I probably seemed rather calm & collected. I held a#SuperOrganizer tightly, as she wept. 5/Show this thread -
I tried to tell her that I would not allow her DREAM to die...that I would fight so hard, they'd deport me right beside her. Then, I looked into the eyes of my own son. The eyes of a boy who had worked *SO* hard to try to help the nice lady beat that loudmouthed bully. 6/

My heart swelled with pride, as I thought of how honourable his motives were. Then it shattered. Although he tried to contain his pain, a Mother knows. As I went to hold him in my arms, he made a small attempt to pull away, but then relented. I felt his breath catch. 7/

Then I heard that *not* sound. The one where you're TRYING to scream, but soul is in too much pain to produce any noise? MY BABY made THAT not sound. But, I didn't lose it. He needed comforting, & Mama supplied it. I couldn't help but recall the Election night, 8 yrs prior. 8/

That same boy LITERALLY danced in front of the television set, when "Bocko Bama" was elected. But this time being the best wasn't enough. Even HE was old enough to understand that things were going to get pretty scary, without ever being told. So we went home, & went to bed. 9/

I did a SWAN-DIVE into my bed...and was asleep before the Russian judge could give me a crappy score for it!
I awoke the next day, & quickly found a "New Normal".
Some would (and did) call it PTSD.
Sleep is overrated anyway.

Wanting to keep in touch with the young people I'd met during the Campaign, I finally joined Twitter. Against my will, I might add. I'd avoided it, on purpose. Then, a crazy idea hit me. What if...? What IF we all stayed organized, & just worked together to FIX THIS?

One day, I got up, I slipped into my cute red uniform, put in my earpiece, & reported for Duty at my Comms Station. All hailing frequencies are open, but I don't need any of them to hear the mighty roar of
#TheResistance. We're STILL#StrongerTogether-thanks for being here!
