All of my Twitter ads are in Russian right now. I am in SF, and I have no idea why. My phone isn’t in Russian. It is, however, in Scots. Is that why? If so, this is probably the most genius way for me to identify/avoid advertising. No more accidentally mistaking ads for content

Periodic Reminder: When debugging, you must first accept that something you believe is true is not true. If everything you believed about this system were true, it would work. It doesn't, so you're wrong about something. This is a surprisingly common stumbling block for devs.

This was scheduled weeks ago before I booked travel. Whoops. Funny how timing and coincidences work out.

Wells Fargo's site makes me feel like bank websites were designed by bankers for bankers and then programmed by bankers, but that all of those bankers hate each other and want to impose maximal suffering on one another. Not even in a fun way.

Alright , here we go: I just published the beta-but-really-alpha version of "Cite to Write" - a course on using for...research! Taking 10 students for now at super discounted price, any feedback _very_ likely to be incorporated 😁

In my journey from skinny child to malnourished transplant patient to slightly chubby and back to skinny, excellent Irish butter and copious amounts of whipped cream have been wonderful companions along the way. I've *finally* kicked the Kerrygold habit since it's not in Korea.

I think one involves wearing hipster glasses, carrying a fancy notebook -- paper, of course -- and muttering phrases about "Human-Centered Design" and "Exploring the Design Space". Better through in the word "Ideation" in there a half dozen times for good measure.

While results-based goals are nice, *identity-based* goals are powerful. What's the difference between "Learning to Designer User Interfaces" vs "Becoming a UI/UX Designer"?

I recently went for 60+ days without rebooting my mac, according to the uptime calculator. USB failed massively and I had to dig up an Apple tool called USB Prober to reset USB. No longer works on Catalina. :( Read about my experiment here:

4/ The implications of this send me into paralysis every time I go to book airplane tickets. I just spent a week trying to book a ticket from ICN to SFO. I wrote about overcoming that paralysis here:

3/ Handy discoveries: *First*, if you don't check luggage, you can re-route yourself as much as you want. *Second*, while layovers in particular cities aren't guaranteed in the event of equipment or weather issues, most of the time you are safe to assume that you will get it.

2/ With family obligations, work obligations, and a general low tolerance for airports and layovers, I assume that most people find something in their price range that is generally tolerable and purchase, not looking back.

1/ I don't know if anyone else suffers from Airfare Analysis Paralysis, a particularly insidious form of analysis paralysis, but I do. Booking flights is usually an over-constrained problem for most.

Success for long-term commitments is impossible if you are constantly thinking about it. It just has to be a part of you. Balanced. Like it's background noise.
