I am responding to the facts available to me and your Hot Take, which seemed to imply this as a possible direction for this project. I am writing this to explain the consequences of such an act, just in case you and others have not thought them through.
So it's a lot less like saying the Linux foundation should pay everyone who wants to work on Linux, and a lot more like saying all eligible citizens should have the right to vote

If it’s not about the money, how would an AltETH help Ethereum solve these governance challenges? We already have plenty of ongoing governance experiments in the space which we all watch closely.

Not nearly enough, in my opinion. Nearly all of them are at layer two. If nothing else, more experimentation in layer one governance would be invaluable.

Why do you keep talking about voting? Please don’t tell me you’ve bought in to onchain plutocracy. People can influence ETH well beyond how rich they are.
