    A great news story.

    Developer buys pub. Developer is refused planning permission. Developer demolishes it anyway -in breach of planning laws and in spite of the fact it was being considered for Grade II listing. Period of public uproar. Developer is ordered to rebuild it brick-by-brick. Glorious.

    First the now (rumoured) the - two huge organisations that are restructuring at the cost of a huge amount of jobs, knowledge & expertise. Ultimately, our heritage objects & buildings will suffer. Is being used to implement wider changes than needed?

    This is simply wrong. Bricks don’t ‘become porous’ and pointing should never be sealed. This kind of amateur advice is the cause of many problems in buildings new and old. if you would like some good advice to talk us at or

    According to in Feb7 we should be using water proofer on pointing and brickwork.there’s no ref to whether this applies to modern or traditional -how about proper advice that can’t be misconstrued by DIYers?
