If you've been wondering what happens after the end of The City in the Middle of the Night, you can find out this coming Tuesday! I wrote a whole new story about Alyssa journeying into the eternal night, where she meets someone surprising.

Just because there’s an opening in your schedule doesn’t mean you’re free. Everything doesn’t need to be filled up and don’t let anyone try and fill it for you. That’s a you space. Take it.

“Leave the area”=forcible removal of Indigenous peoples from their ancestral lands. They have original title. Other forced removals of Native Nations: Trail of Tears (Cherokee/ Chickasaw/Creek/Seminole/Choctaw), The Long Walk (Navajo) the list goes on. So much for reconciliation.

Book 14: THANKS A THOUSAND by A.J. Jacobs - A project-based memoir about gratitude. Jacobs attempts to thank ALL involved in making his daily cup of coffee happen. Nothing mindblowing in this one, and it doesn't get very deep, but the audiobook was a nice, relaxing listen. ☕

So You Want to Review/Discuss/Interview an Author Who Uses Nonbinary or Gender Neutral Pronouns: a (long) thread. Or: please stop misgendering nonbinary authors while talking about their nonbinary books, yikes.

If you are in doubt about how to refer to an author, check their bio, press kit, or ASK. If you're unfamiliar with singular they and want guidance from language authorities, check AP, CMOS, APA, AMA, or Purdue OWL style guides, or the Merriam Webster and Oxford dictionaries.

Day 4: I was going to wait until closer to the release date to read JFB's new book, but I can't. I love her writing too much. About to brew some tea from and settle…

the 3yo just asked if our cat would come back to life in the springtime. like the trees. definitely have kids if you want to experience every human emotion magnified by magical thinking, sentiment unburdened by mortality or time or physics, simultaneously devastating & innocent.

If transphobes were *genuinely* concerned about detransition rates for youth, they’d be avid supporters of both trans visibility and LGBTQ+ education in schools so that the kids who DO question can better see and know for themselves what being trans *actually* means.

Book 13: CALL THEM BY THEIR TRUE NAMES by Rebecca Solnit - Meh. I found myself wishing she could move beyond her own privilege a bit more. Still a good read with important points that are clearly stated, and there's an encouraging layer of hope, too.
