no particular desire to get into this because honestly I’m exhausted, but I can’t be the only cis, female feminist who is creeped out by the hysteria around puberty blockers because they *might* lead to treatments that *might* reduce fertility
maybe I’m just at an age where this all feels very *pointed* but I’m very very not up for discussions of gender that are framed entirely around the possibility of impregnating or being impregnated, as if that were the only way people could have Real Identities
lots of things you do impact on fertility including, if you’re a cis man, riding a bike on bumpy roads or resting your laptop on your lap, and yet I have never, ever read an article handwringing over either of those activities
not to mention that by working so hard to undermine Gillick they are also chipping away at the right of teenagers to access contraception and abortion without parental knowledge or consent. brrrr.

people hand-wringing about puberty blockers are usually just seeking a fig leaf for their transphobia, rather than genuinely concerned for those involved. ALSO raises my hackles when people elevate reproductive ability to the raison d'etre of women. lousy arguments all around
Of course it isn't the only raison d'etre of women, but it's high up the list for many women and men too. How can you expect a 10 year-old of either sex to understand the risk of losing their fertility and even the possibility of sexual arousal and functioning?
It feels a lot like the gross insistence that only by having children can you truly understand what it is to be a woman
