The logical fallacy is that because no academic departments *solely* focus on studying consequences of algorithms, therefore no academic studies of the consequences of algorithms exist.
Others have demonstrated this is false, pointing e.g. to the FAT* conference https://www.fatconference.org/ . Also a ton of work at conferences I know best, @sig_chi and @acm_cscw. The existence of this research shows the fundamental problem with the article: the author didn’t do hers
