I particularly liked that David gave specific examples in this latest response. I think that talk about general abstract principles can be unconstructive, making it unclear where people disagree or how one would judge any specific situation. But....

specific situations are where the action is! That's where people can comprehend best what's at stake, where disagreements become apparent, and where the utility (or absurdity) of the general principles is illustrated.
