I started Pedro's book some time ago and didn't get around to finishing it. I don't think I have much interest in doing so anymore. Profoundly disappointing.

I liked that book, and I enjoyed his class at UW… but, there are other ML people to learn from.
The "Master Algorithm"? We tried to read it in my Book Club, and everyone gave up. I liked its high-level, intuitive description of various ML approaches, but there was a constant strain of simplistic wildly over-optimistic boosterism that was off putting.

yeah, well, your milage may vary… i listened to the audiobook at 1.5x while running… i like to hear how people describe AI to more of a general public, and this had some new elements

That’s so interesting. As someone without any AI background - I found Domingos’ book incredibly informative and impeccably well-organized. One of the best books I’ve read.
