So we heard Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was worth watching. Started the first episode, and had to stop after less than 30 minutes. Acting ranged from mediocre to insanely, embarrassingly unwatchable (Sisko). Does it get better???

We've been re/watching it for pandemic entertainment. Some of the acting and dialog is not great (especially early on), but it all sort of gels, and my overall reaction is that DS9 is good in all sorts of ways that my younger self didn't appreciate when it first aired.
I think we'll try... looking forward to the "good in [other] sorts of ways"! Would it be feasible to skip the first season?
