Real question. The Netflix interface is pretty good at surfacing stuff "you might like"—with some kind of recsys going on underneath. Why doesn't Amazon, which has been doing this for 25 years, care more about recsys?

I have not really analyzed Amazon's recommender experience. I do know, however, that they care about recommendation, and indeed huge lots of recsys and ml researchers.

I should have said "Prime" rather than "Amazon"; I'm thinking mainly of their streaming service.
