    i am also suspicious that i may have this part wrong. if i put the perspective first, it's really off but looks like it is in perspective (see video i just posted) . if i have it at the end of the set of operations, it seems to be in ortho but scaled down uniformly with depth.

    i think maybe my problem is my matrix itself. i thought i had this right, but i don't get the math well enough to actually spot errors.

    ok, progress: i have isolated the problem. if i turn off my perspective matrix completely, i have a perfectly respectable ortho projection. so the problem is somewhere in the perspective operations.

    my goal right now is to get this set up so i have a fully independent object rotation + scale + transform operation before the camera rotation + transform. it's getting there. rotation around Z works but i am getting some kind of weird y rotation bug.

    wow this is the first time i've seen z-fighting in this renderer and it has a really interesting texture! i'm sure once i clean up depth channel it'll look different, but this is so nice.

    this is endearingly buggy but it is getting somewhere. the controls are all kinds of wonky. i think i have an axis and/ or rotation flip in there.

    the bad news is i don't have perspective projection working yet. but! the good news is this one doesn't have the weird slowdown the other had. maybe i can use save this + use it as an effect for warping or something.

    perspective projection bug. (i think the slowdown is terrible CPU overload caused by very very long shapes at some angles. clipping should fix that but i don't have that yet.

    i am babystepping my way toward perspective projection. this is ortho (3d, but no perspective), and i'm using it to practice matrices: one for heading, one for pitch.

    i fixed up my polygon edge draw! this has some glitches at seams (aliasing of start / end values?) but this is a big step.
