that comment about ginuwine not having hits is an example of how an artist's longterm legacy doesn't always have to do with how many hits they had. songs that end up on an oldies station 20+ years later are usually not the best or anywhere near most of that hot songs from an era

it's so easy for an artist who was at the top to become obscure in a single generation. how their legacies are treated help determine that. i feel that as far as amerian music goes, black artists have this much harder.

american music history has not even been as kind to the legacy of an artist like aretha. stereo williams spoke about this. she his reduced to a few hits. her discography is stunning
