I wrote a small (hopefully practical) guide for applying to entry-level graphics jobs in the game industry. http://alextardif.com/GraphicsJobGuide.html …

Great guide! Mirrors very closely what I saw/was asked of me when applying to gfx jobs about 6 months ago. The only thing I would also add is that blog posts are your greatest tool to both learn a topic and showcase to others how well you understand it, so write about your exper!

Also, don’t feel that as a beginner you don’t have anything of value to write. You do. Anyone can bring a new perspective to any topic and the fact you’re new to the field can make your presentation more useful to other newcomers! Plus review of fundmentals is always worth it! 😁

Fantastic guide! Both for myself and for the many people that ask me a similar question, I can point them to this now :)

As you mentioned in this guide. Which graphics debugger is most popular nowadays?

Some have features that others don't, but it's generally whatever you prefer. If I had to guess, PIX and RenderDoc are probably the most widely used.

“Apply everywhere”. Yes. This. I had applied to 30+ companies, 10 responded, 2 offers. Writing my render engine during this time helped at the end. And be passionate for graphics and the company you’re applying to.
