Silencing residents is not a good look.

The unfortunate thing is that they still have to work resident hours up until time hosp closes & they are prohibited from speaking with media. They have little time to even assemble a group to take on a task. Thanks for advice. I hope the
@AAMC does right by them. - Show replies

I hated reading this article not only because of the unfairness and damage to these young doctors but also because of it showed how healthcare is such a commodity in the US; the talk of selling the hospital to another company as if that’s the most important thing.
-
Such a valid point. The more I reflect, the angrier I become. Why didn’t any PD scream “DON’T COME”? Why are they letting res voices be silenced? How is this legal? This is a prime ex of how res are often voiceless workers who fall privy to “the system” they have no control of.

I was a student there way back in the early 2000's, and this issue was simmering under the surface, thanks to Tenet Healthcare. I knew then this would be the eventual outcome. They closed MCP Hospital, I can't imagine Hahnemann closing. Hopefully Penn, TJ and Temple can help.
-
I am glad you got out & I am not surprised this has been simmering for 15+ years and that means there were 15+ times that res programs could have been adjusted to prevent what is currently happening.

They have been in trouble for a long time. They lost their standing when for profit took them over, much competition in Phila. and surrounding areas.Very sad. I have friends who have worked there a long time.

I can only imagine the loss for the community and employees. I hope your friends can find employment quickly though I wish they didn’t have to.
Sad day for the “system” - Show replies
