Let me emphasize that second point: white supremacist ideas are not obviously wrong or transparently ridiculous. Two Fox News commentators, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, have been echoing white nationalist rhetoric on their shows. Rep. Steve King has done this repeatedly.

You may still think, "If I publish this racist comment, people will see how racist it is & be disgusted!" or "I'll allow this racist to indict himself by his transparently racist comments. Everyone knows how wrong this is! I don't have to explain." That's not how it works.
