That’s true- but new grads usually would only handle misdemeanors. The issue is the turnover - a complicated conspiracy to commit murder case is hard to do! There are other reasons why DAs are quitting, but in some offices there is literally 100% turnover.

For example- on a serious case at SFDA - the new DA he hired didn’t know you had to establish “ID” of a suspect during the grand jury - and the case was dismissed. The fact he had a new DA on a high profile case was a recipe for disaster.
