Happy to announce that I took the offer from to lead the creation an AI driven social network for the 21st century and beyond. It's been wonderful working at Google, but onto the next adventure...

I continue to be amazed at how easy Python makes a lot of programming tasks. Definitely sparks joy! If there's a language you don't know that you always wanted to learn, give it a try!

Looking for a job in tech? - Maintain a project in GitHub - Use more than one language - Demonstrate more than one deployment type (web, cloud, desktop, mobile etc) - Show your work in blogs and videos - Don't be a fanboy/girl - Treat others with respect

I'm a Googler who has primarily been working-from-home for >5 years, and love it! If you're stir-crazy, get out and take a walk. Meetings by hangouts FTW 2 hours less commuting = better environment, more family time and better work hours!

People used to tell me about Twitter shadow bans, and I wasn’t sure if I believed them. Now it looks like it’s happening to me! Can you do me a favor? If you see this post, can you like, share, or comment?

Lots of debate this morning about framework X versus framework Y in the AI/ML community, spurred by an article that was, in my opinion, flat wrong in its premise. But I think most people are missing the point. A 🧵

Something I learned this week: Some toxic people become even more so when you treat them with respect and dignity. But that shouldn't stop one trying to do the right thing.

Dear tech Twitter: It's really not worth being toxic. Some go out of their way to offend, and some go out of their way to be offended. If someone is a jerk, regardless of their gender, race, or creed, just block them, and move on! Use your energy being kind instead! 💐

One thing to always remind myself: don't let other people, particularly using social media, tell me what my opinion should be. Look at facts, context and circumstances, and always avoid bandwagons.

Applied for -- Rejected in 15 minutes. Teaching AI to millions isn't enough, but apparently if I were leading an activism group to protest my own teaching, it might be! Don't understand this at all!

People have asked me about impostor syndrome. Embrace it. It's proof you realize you don't know everything, and you can learn from the people around you. Seize the opportunity to better yourself it helps you to remember. And everybody has it! Not just you!

I have to share my experience as a young immigrant to the US, on an H1-B, woefully underpaid, in a crappy company. The only way I could skill myself up and out *was* by working for *myself* on weekends. I learned the skills to make myself marketable once I got my Green Card.

Unpopular opinion: the best thing young people can do early in their careers is to work on the weekends.

I've always loved the saying "It's the quiet ones that change the world". Think about the ones around you that choose to be quiet. They're likely changing the world. Think about those that have no choice but to be quiet. They're the ones that need the world changed.

Would anybody be interested in a learning dataset for object detection based on MNIST? Idea is that instead of 28x28, it could be NxN, and you predict the bounding box for the digit location. Example

I once interviewed a very hairy guy in a purple suit and fedora, who obviously went to the school of firm handshakes. He promptly crushed my hand, dislocating a finger. I didn't hire him...

I joined Google 8 years ago, today. Wow, how the time has flown! Thanks to everybody at this remarkable company for making it fun, challenging, difficult when it needed to be, supportive always, and generally cooler than anything I could have ever imagined! #Google
