To conclude: as we look forward now to JWST, let's remember the big role Spitzer played in shaping the science case for exoplanets in the infrared. THANK YOU SPITZER. You will be missed!!!!

(Special shout-out to Lisa who was very kind that one time I couldn't submit my proposal with SPOT and emailed the help desk in a panic right before the deadline ;)

This is all spectacular science, and it wouldn't be possible without the dedication and general wonderfulness of the Spitzer Science Center staff. I want to give you all my most heartfelt thanks.

... transiting terrestrial planets around HD 219134, precise masses for the TRAPPIST-1 planets, the first thermal phase curve for super Earths, confirmation of TOI 700d, an Earth-size habitable zone planet from TESS, and much, much more.

Thanks to Spitzer, we have the first detection of thermal emission and phase variation for hot Jupiters, the first evidence for thermal inversions and disequilibrium chemistry in their atmospheres, the first eclipse maps of planets' dayside brightness, discovery of the nearest...

For the last 15 years Spitzer has been an absolute powerhouse for exoplanet observations. Even though the mission wasn't designed with this science case in mind, Spitzer has special capabilities that are *perfect* for exoplanets - precise photometry at infrared wavelengths.

Reflecting on the wonderful legacy of the Spitzer Space Telescope, which conducted its final science observations yesterday. I want to say a few words to mark the end of an era.

Beautiful results from , , and on the first habitable-zone, Earth-size planet discovered by the TESS mission.

Hey ! Do you love the Spitzer Space Telescope (I sure do!). Come celebrate the extraordinary life of the observatory at Special Session 238, Spitzer's Scientific Legacy, this morning at 10.

We so often talk about oxygen as the strongest evidence for alien life, but what other possibilities are there? here's a nice perspective from on phosphine, a biosignature that stinks ;)

No sh*t y'all -- LHS 3844b gives us the first constraints on the surface composition of a planet beyond the Solar System.

only one more hour to vote for the non-turd rocky planet LHS 3844b!! 👇👇👇👇👇👇

While we did not actually consider turds in our analysis, I'm pretty sure (?) the albedo of LHS 3844b is inconsistent with that of a turd. 💩

One more hour to vote for LHS 3844b!!! This planet is covered in dark rock!!! picture Hawaii, minus the nice beaches/plants

Atmospheres? pssshhh WE CAN SEE THE HOT ROCKY SURFACE OF LHS 3844b AND IT IS (most likely) MADE OF DARK VOLCANIC ROCK, what else do you need? 🔥🔥🔥
