The purpose of the primary is for party members to select a candidate to represent that particular party in an election.

Instead of forcing a party to have open primaries we should create an even playing field for third parties and independent candidates

Third and fourth and fifth parties. One extra party just peels votes away from someone. MORE than that and now yer talkin.
