    The important axis is not liberal v conservative. The axis that will get people out to vote is power vs no power. Left or right, the people who don’t vote feel like the system has deserted them. If only there was a voice that spoke for the powerless... :/

    Not just true if your job is explaining. This is also true if you have a hard time talking to friends about politics.

    If your job is to explain politics, and you find yourself unable to fathom why real-change candidates have surged, why extreme capitalism is being questioned, why twentieth-century certitudes need not apply, don’t minimize just because you don’t understand. Start understanding.

    I've debated whether to share what happened the night I went back to Dulles Airport to help two travelers arriving from Iran who were detained for nearly 7 hours. Retaliation is certainly something I've considered as an immigration lawyer, but these days it just seems so real.
