This wouldn't have happened like this with Commissioner Evans, who retired last year. I saw him at many protests, from Occupy, to BLM, to the anti-fascist counter protests. He was always focused on de-escalating potentially violent situations.

I heard the cops say "back, back, turn around". The cops were trying to move the crowd back but the crowd tried to press forward. I watched and listenes to the video a couple of times.

Yeah, but you can’t move a crowd from the front. The people have no control over the surge from behind.
