Mohiussunnath Chowdhury, the Buckingham Palace attacker who was convicted yesterday of planning another attack after being released from prison, was inspired by a chaotic selection of extremist material It included a signed copy of Tommy Robinson's bookhttps://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/mohiussunnath-chowdhury-terror-buckingham-palace-sword-attack-tommy-robinson-a9322286.html …

Chowdhury is an Islamist, and had watched and read Isis propaganda, while a key inspiration was Anwar al-Awlaki But in the months before his arrest, he was increasingly using far-right material by Robinson and other counter-jihaders. And it wasn't a mistake.

Chowdhury made clear during his trial that he knew who Robinson and other sources including Robert Spencer, of JihadWatch, and Christian preacher David Wood were But he saw their material - presenting Islam as inherently violent - as an accurate interpretation of the religion

His consumption of far-right material was sustained and deliberate. He spent almost £40 on Robinson's book and described it as the "Quran decoded" He took it to his mosque to show undercover police, claiming it proved peaceful verses were "cancelled out" by violent ones

He described “learning” from the Jihad Watch website, and screenshotted numerous articles including a list of Quran verses about fighting Chowdhury also relied on videos by David Wood claiming to “explain jihad” and vehicle attacks, and book by Don Richardson

Chowdhury described Wood as a “hardcore enemy of Allah” to undercover police but added: “He does a better job of explaining Islam than most speakers in the west.” When being questioned at trial, he said he "studied" JihadWatch and claimed Robinson “understands jihadi doctrine”

We've previously seen neo-Nazis using Isis videos for inspiration and attack planning. This is the first court evidence I've seen of Islamists using far right Although fundamentally opposed in many respects, both sides share view that Islam imposes an obligation of violent jihad

Chowdhury's case shows a clear risk that material by those claiming to somehow "expose" Islam will work its way around to jihadis and fuel their violent aspirations Those on the right who are spouting the same theological claims as Islamists should take a hard look at themselves

          1) What is ISIS? Remember this slide? This is ISIS strategy, in their own words. They want to eradicate any coexistence (the ‘grayzone’) between “Muslim” (their version, FYI) and non-Muslim. Inciting revenge violence is their MO. They’re not subtle. https://twitter.com/msentropy/status/1106664791710580737?s=21 …

Chowdhury was inspired by the Koran, the Hadiths & 1400 years of invasive war & oppression by equally inspired jihadists, & the Prophet Mohammed himself. Jihad is preached daily in mosques around the world. Blaming @Acts17 @jihadwatchRS or T.R. is either mischievous or fatuous.
