Thank you to Tinge Krishnan and the anonymous figures who spoke to me about film/TV racism They say those speaking out see damage to their careers And are horrified at hypocrisy of some they say behave badly signing open letter calling for end to racism

Doctor Who Ep 1's 7-day consolidated is 5.79 million. Week's 9th most watched show, 3rd most watched drama after Shetland and The Long Call In line with prev catchup figs. So far, six ep arc hasn't had impact on catchup - most of its audience still watch on night it's transmitted

The second episode of Doctor Who was watched by an overnight audience of 3.96 million. A slip of almost half a million from Ep 1. So far the 6 episode arc doesn’t seem to have reversed previous viewing patterns. But consolidated figs will be the true test. Ep 1’s out later today

Final thought. Unsurprisingly last 5 mins had much higher viewing figure of 5.41m (compared to 4.43m prog average) as people tuned in for Strictly, so a shame BBC didn't run a post credits 'exciting stuff coming up in the series' trailer to take advantage of that larger audience

Of course consolidated figures will tell real story, but traditionally show is mostly watched on evening that it's on. And it adds a fairly consistent amount overnight. But we won't have fuller picture for a few weeks. Right now, it's in 'not brilliant, not terrible' territory

Also worth noting that Spyfall Part One was a New Year's Day Special. If the one overall storyline/cliffhangers format keeps figures at this level or sees a rise, will be excellent news. But if it falls at the rate of the last series, then it's already starting from a lower base

The Doctor Who series opener was watched by an overnight audience of 4.43 million. Higher than most of S12's overnights It's not as high as S12 opener Spyfall (4.88m). Interesting to see if the one story for 6 eps means figures rise rather than the usual fall over the series

Sad to hear that lyricist and composer Leslie Bricusse died earlier today aged 90. The news was confirmed by his office Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, Talk To The Animals, Candy Man, Feeling Good And my favourite - Pure Imagination. So many classics

Love that Alan Hawkshaw, the King of library music, saw his compositions used in so many different places. Including the trailer for a huge Clint Eastwood movie

Sad to hear about the death of the brilliantly talented Alan Hawkshaw at the age of 84 His music was used as the title theme for some of my favourite TV shows, ranging from Grange Hill and Dave Allen at Large to Channel Four News and Countdown

I'm sure I'm not the first to spot it but on Monday evening 'Only Connect' was Britain's most watched TV programme in its timeslot. and chums even beat Eastenders. This is almost more exciting than the third place play-off.

Russell T Davies is returning to Doctor Who for the show's 60th anniversary in 2023 and an unspecified number of series to follow! He was in charge of the show from 2005 to 2010, during his award winning tenure Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant played the Doctor.

Lots of reports that Sir Clive Sinclair has died at 81. If true, very sad for people of a certain age. A genius pioneer who introduced generations to home computers with the ZX80, ZX81 and the ZX Spectrum. Not to mention the legendary, but less successful C5 electric tricycle

Could Emma Raducanu become the youngest Dame ever when the New Year Honours list is published in Dec? List will be crammed with sports stars after a successful Paralympics, Olympics and Euro 2020 But her amazing achievement should see her getting an OBE, CBE or even a Damehood

I’ve just taken a call from Biddy Baxter to say that Edward Barnes has died at the age of 92. One of the true greats of children’s TV, founding father of Blue Peter, creator of Newsround, Swap Shop and much more but also a dear and loyal friend.

Well, that was fun! Managed to squeeze one or two ABBA song titles into my chat with on the BBC One O Clock News earlier. As I speculated about what tonight's announcement might all be about
