If you've ever wondered why he is unsuitable for release... here's what flying looks like when you have one wing shorter than the other!pic.twitter.com/vvYGoNXpIS

As he came in like this, and was just a baby (and therefore wouldn't 'miss' flight), the choice was put him down, or keep him as an educational ambassador to show how bats can be adorable, too!pic.twitter.com/e52wqSroe3

Out of interest, in the increasingly shared image where he is in the lid being weighed, was he at the juvenile or adult stage? I have raised bat pups myself and he looks closer to a juvenile or adult in terms of fluff. Happy to be corrected, as my answer is based off UK bats.
-
Yeah he was fairly young there. I'm in UK too

Sorry if I've missed the answer to this already, but why such a heavy duty glove? Are they *that* spiky? Also, OMG so cute
-
Can be thinner for pips, but this type of gloves fit really well and I just always use them. Good to always show bats in well-gloved hand too so well meaning member of the public doesn't pick one up and get bitten

I see you are wearing thick (meat cutting?) gloves, but what other protections do you have to take against bat saliva?
-
Just sensible stuff, really. Washing hands after handling bowls etc. Some species I'm more cautious of.
