Just anecdotal - back in the bay area this week and the same people who were like "it's not that bad, just deal with it" about the interview process are now upset because half their coworkers can't code

For the record I played that game and did CTCI cover to cover for one interview season. But it's such a timesink and ultimately useless outside of interviews and I always hated it

Some people really like them as brainteasers/whatever which is fine! I just hate how they are used as a singular metric for tech competence

Years ago I was hiring Windows programmers for a company. I loved the folks that would come in with all sorts of MSFT developer certs, but didn't know how to add an event without using a wizard. Most didn't understand how events worked at all.

i think that people think dev jobs are harder than they actually are, and leetcode is a way to try to justify that story. Also please let them keep it up so I can grift my way into FAANG
