Great example of how political maps are being manipulated to exaggerate irrelevant differences. On a 1 to 10 scale, average scores of both East and West Germany are 7. Even with two decimals, difference is marginal: 0.35.

We've been designing the concept of democratic efficacy. It captures how subjective sentiments toward politics are linked to objective individual capacities. These are assumed to promote democratic behavior against appeals. Check it out👉

This article I was very much looking forward to seeing in print. Ever wondered how became a political powerhouse. The roots of that story is told by friend & colleague Béla Greskovits & I have it on authority that he is only getting started with this research agenda.

New job - we are looking for a 6-year post-doc in the team of Sylvia Kritzinger (focus: political behaviour)(). This is like a 6-year Assist Prof position: lots of freedom to pursue one's own research agenda, 2 classes a term (likely 50% in methods).

For those interested, I often wonder whether my work is relevant and worth the effort. I have gone through (at least) biannual professional existential crises since I started my PhD. The crises are largely unrelated to "success" and more caused by politics than political science.

Extremely proud of my PhD student and partners in crime. Great work! "Young adults who expect to do worse than their parents in the future are indeed more likely to locate themselves at the extreme ends of the ideological scale."
